The Triumph of Modernism
Spanning 60 years of Australian Art, The Triumph of Modernism surveys the development of modern art as a critical force in Australia. A telling portrait of the post-World War II disillusionment in the art world, these works from the aftermath of the conflict are renowned for being provocative, striking and polarising. The exhibition is a cohesive overview including works by artists such Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd, Russell Drysdale, John Brack, John Perceval and Charles Blackman, and later works of Fred Williams and John Olsen. Curated by former director of the Art Gallery of NSW, Edmund Capon AM, OBE, The Triumph of Modernism is a well calculated look at the works that challenged the Australian art identity to be what it is today.
