Artist Profile is pleased to present twelve limited-edition Salvatore Zofrea watercolour box sets, celebrating Zofrea’s cover for Artist Profile Issue 58. Each watercolour represents a study for Zofrea’s monumental Day Cycle, 2012–ongoing, parts of which will be exhibited this May at Australian Galleries, Sydney.
Salvatore Zofrea (b.1946, Italy) is a leading Australian artist, whose intuitive pursuits for meaning through painting, drawing and print have become well-known for their distinctive epic themes and for their masterful compositional harmony. Since his first solo exhibition in 1967 at Macquarie Galleries, Sydney, he has gone on to have over fifty solo and countless more group exhibitions throughout Australia. He has won the Art Gallery of New South Wales’s Sulman Prize on four occasions. He has been awarded the prestigious Power Bequest and the Churchill Fellowship, and is a recipient of the Order of Australia. His works are in major national collections including the National Gallery of Australia, National Portrait Gallery, and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Zofrea’s cover story, by our Editor Kon Gouriotis, looks back over sixty years of devoted and devotional artistic practice, and ahead to three significant solo exhibitions this year at Australian Galleries, Macquarie University Art Gallery, Orange Regional Gallery, and Manly Art Gallery & Museum.
Each handmade lipped-clamshell box includes a watercolour on paper by Zofrea valued at $1,750, and an edition of Artist Profile 58 signed by the artist.
