Calling Artists, Curators and Friends, Artists For Nepal call for your support to stage events, globally, for the benefit of Nepal.

The method behind the madness is clear, each curator organises their own unique event –  an exhibition, gig, talk, performance, installation, screening or reading – big or small. Any funds raised go to a NGO of each individual curator’s choice. The focus is to show support for Nepal, you can participate by signing up as an artist, curator, or supporter here.

The launch is at the Venice Biennale 6 May, during Venice Agendas and The Press Room with founder, artist Gaynor O’Flynn. O’Flynn is a cross-disciplinary artist who has worked extensively in the Himalayas and curates the British section of the Kathmandu International Art Festival. She is also founder of the BeingHuman Collective – for artists who work for social change.

Enthusiasm and momentum behind the initiative has been impressive. More than 50+ curators signed up for the global initiative in the first call for Artists For Nepal, organising exhibitions, screenings, readings, installations and performances. Before the site was even launched, events dotted across places as varied as London, Instanbul, New York, Delhi, Mumbai and Ulan Batur.

Discussing the motivation behind the project, Gaynor Flynn, commented “I have worked for many years in the Himalayas with the mountain people of Bhutan, India, Nepal & Tibet. I have benefited greatly from the beauty, kindness & wisdom of these people, their land, traditions & culture.

I am deeply saddened by the recent tragedy in Nepal, so when my dear friend, Sangeeta Thapa, Director Of The Siddartha Art Foundation, asked me to help, I created, Artists For Nepal.”

Uniting artists, curators and art lovers across all disciplines and boundaries, this is a truly special global event, and an opportunity to champion the power of the arts for meaningful social change.
