Applications Open for 2018 Bundanon AIR
"Supporting contemporary arts practice was central to Arthur Boyd’s plans when he left the Bundanon property to the Australian people," John Baylis.
Applications are currently open for the 2018 Bundanon AIR (Artist-in-Residence) program. These coveted residencies are open to applicants from all disciplines and levels of experience, making them highly sought after by artists nationally.
“The influence of Bundanon’s serene energy can be found in the seminal works of Australian artists from across the spectrum,” said John Baylis, Chief Programs Officer. “A Bundanon residency provides time to switch off from everyday life and tap into the solitude that so inspired Arthur Boyd. The remote nature of the property is one of the big attractions and this is balanced by access to top quality internet in comfortable living and working spaces.”
Boyd’s vision has seen Bundanon Trust establish itself as an engine room for contemporary art practice in Australia. The residential complex includes purpose-built studios and rehearsal spaces suitable for visual artists, writers, musicians and performers, and from 2018 a new silversmith studio.
Applications are open to creatives from all genres, opening on Thursday 27 April and closing on Monday 19 June. Over 300 people per year spend time in residence at Bundanon working alone or with a group. Past alumni include Ben Quilty, Katie Noonan, Charlotte Wood, Christina Chan, Brook Andrews, Shaun Parker, Wesley Enoch, William Zappa and Sue Broadway, as well as companies such as Playwriting Australia, TaikOz, Critical Path and the Song Company.
