A comic night for all graphic art enthusiasts
The 2014 Emerging Writer’s Festival, Melbourne, is bringing an evening of illustrated conversation with the Graphic Contents event tomorrow night, Thursday 5 June.
Bringing together all who are creatively inclined – artists, animators and writers – the event will celebrate all things comic, zines and visual. The multimedia visual storytelling event will include the work of Simon Hanselmann, Katie Parrish, Ivan Dixon and more.
An evening of range and excitement, it will incorporate projecting, looking, dancing and if in need of some advice the Advicecomics collective have placed themselves at your disposal.
Highlights of the night will include the Zine Swap Stall, with attendees encouraged to swap zines, comics and ideas about graphic art. The festive atmosphere will be kept up beat with a lively set from DJ Game Girl.
Prior to the event Graphic Content attendees will be contacted and invited to ask a question to the Advicecomics team. Whether it is a question about life, love or existence, randomly selected questions will be answered with illustrated comics as a response.
This year’s Advicecolumnists include Mr Ray (Marc Pearson), Boyfriend (Hawkins) and Sally (Katie Parrish). The original artworks of the anonymous answers will be presented to participants during the evening.
Graphic Contents is an initiative of the Emerging Writers’ Festival. This organisation is non-for-profit, whose focus is built on supporting emerging writers. The event schedule is jam-packed with an expose of the latest creativity and innovation of Australia’s diverse voices. The Festival is currently running until 6 June.
