Leo Robba

In response to the 2013 tour to Gallipoli, Leo Robba has created a series of 'miniatures', which he has painted inside old tobacco tins that date back to WWI period. The landscape has always been Robba's muse, but in this body of work the meaning goes beyond the surface of the painting.

Robba won a scholarship to the ANU to do studies towards a PhD in painting, in which he’s examining the picturesque (or interpreted) landscape and early colonial painters such as John Glover and how they influence the way we view landscape
